P1000423The Township of Ramara is located along the north eastern shore of Lake Simcoe and east shore of Lake Couchiching. It also includes Lake St. John and part of Upper Lake Dalrymple. Ontario Highway 12 is the main north/south artery.

The population in 2012 was approximately 10,000. The village of Brechin and the adjacent community of Lagoon City is the main area of population concentration and centre of commercial activity. The Township Municipal Office is located in the village of Brechin.
Ramara also includes the Chippewas of Mnjikanning First Nations Reserve within its borders, consisting of 8 parcels of land totaling about 2,400 acres and home to approximately 900 residents. Casino Rama is the main employer and economic engine of the reserve.
